Introduction
Speaking of annual traditions, it's the 'Ride to buy black beans in Sasayama', in other words, the [Black Bean Ride]!
Looking back, the first one was in 2013. I still remember the scary experience on the Soji Okurin-do road on the way back. There were loads of newborn snakes...
Over 10 years have passed since then. I used to think that people grow as they get older, but I doubt even my past self would have imagined that I'd still be enjoying doing the exact same thing after 13 years... People don't change easily!
So, I went to Sasayama to buy black beans!
Early morning after a long time
On this day, I ended up going for a ride with Rose after a long time. I think it was probably since we rode at the end of August.
Sometimes people say, 'DARUMA, you're an early riser, aren't you?', but that's not it. The reason I'm up early is because Rose, who I always rode with, is an early riser! For a while, I was doing nonsensical things like leaving home at 3:30 AM and riding 160km before noon and coming back...
So, on this day too, we were scheduled to meet at Ikeda at 6:30 AM, so I left home around 5:15 AM. It was still pitch black.

Zooming north on R176, we met up at the Lawson in Ikeda Shinmachi.
Rose, once again showing his tendency to 'buy a DOGMA and barely ride it'. Good morning.

We set off with only a rough plan, like 'Which route should we take?'.
Shortly after setting off, we passed DOI-san and exchanged greetings. It had been a while since I'd seen DOI-san too!

Heading straight north on Route 12 towards the Nishi Pass area.
I thought it was a bit chilly, and it turned out to be 14℃. The temperature is completely different between the morning in Osaka city and the morning north of Ikeda.

Turn off at the fork in the road and deviate from Nishitoge Pass.

I don't know if it's the official name, but it's a pass called "Izumigo Pass". I prefer this one as it's more secluded than Nishitoge Pass.

Going down, we arrived at the Kobō Onsen hot spring area. The slightly crooked sign on the right is a bit unnerving.

Rosé-san's chain came off here.

From here, we followed the river and headed towards R173 and Tenno, then continued north to Sasayama.
Cosmos were blooming beautifully in various places on this day. I only have some random photos, though.

And I came here again after a long time.
【Magnum Coffee】
It's justice that it opens early in the morning. It's grateful that they let us keep our bikes inside. Having breakfast at a place like that.

Entered the shop and ordered at 8:40.

A "Morning Set" appeared without me noticing. It's a comfortable place, but the prices are a bit on the high side.

I thought Rosé-san and I wouldn't have much to talk about, but when I looked at the clock as we were leaving the cafe, it was past 11 o'clock.
We were there as long as we'd be at an izakaya... we talked too much... what's going on...
Sorry for saying it was a bit expensive.
Buying some beans to take home.
From Fukusumi, we rode west along the Dekansho Road towards Sasayama town centre.
Lovely weather with a clear autumn sky.

Wandered around Route 12 and got some "Kuromame" (black beans) at a direct sales store.
Just before this, I apparently passed by and was called out to by Farao-san and Rokuto-san. I didn't notice at all...

To get home quickly, I took the double punch of Kosaka Pass and Nishitoge Pass on the way back, heading south.

We parted ways with Rosé-san at Inagawa. Don't quit cycling!

From here on, I was solo, so I decided to head home at a leisurely pace.

Arrived in Ikeda.

I had a bit of business, so I made a detour to Poi-Can. I ended up staying for quite a while due to various things.
Before I knew it, it was evening. It's my fault, but I caused trouble for someone with a thoughtless act, and it felt like that remorse was casting a melancholic shadow over the evening view. That's what the scenery looked like to me.

The buildings of Umeda glowed in the setting sun.

An airplane flying directly over the Kanzaki River.

By the time I got back to Jōhoku Bridge, it was the perfect magic hour.

The break time was definitely longer than the actual riding time...
Conclusion
First, let's look at the log of the elapsed time for the day.
Time: 5:12:05
Elapsed Time: 12:28:04
Only just over 5 hours out of 12 and a half!!!!
It feels like I was just riding my bike to move between transit points.
Last year I wasn't in good enough condition to ride, so I feel like I was finally able to achieve the "Kuromame Ride" after a long time.
For me, it's a kind of "annual event", a must-do ride in autumn, so I'm really happy to have achieved it safely this year.
I still haven't had enough to eat, so I might go buy some more at the end of the month...
